System Volume Information\Tracking.Log
When doing a Virus and Spyware scan, the scan locks up when the scanning get to "C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\TRACKING.LOG". I have tried BitDefender and also IOLO System Mechanic Pro and both programs seem to stop at the same point. How can I fix this without losing the information that I have saved. I do Genealogy on this computer.1 person needs an answerI do too

It sounds like you might have some disk corruption in this area of the disk. In any event, it is a good idea to periodically run a full disk check to keep it in good condition. Be warned, though, that if there is corruption, chkdsk tries to fix it and it isn't always successful -- sometimes wiping out data contained in good areas of the disk. It doesn't often happen, but to cover your behind you should back up important data before running a disk check. Also be advised that it can sometimes take hours to complete and Windows can't run while it checks the boot volume (which it does after a reboot), so plan to do the check overnight or when you don't need your computer for a while."How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 >HTH, JW
